Attended Pre-Flight in San Antonio, Texas: Primary in Sikeston, No.; Basic in Coffeeville, Kansas; Commissioned at Moore Field, Texas as Flight Pilot, Class 44A, R.T.U. at Harris Neck, Georgia. Flew one of the 1st P40N into China. Assigned to 76th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Group at Luichow. Flew 57 combat missions from Luichow, Luliang and Loahwangping in P40's and P51's. Most of my missions were ground support or on the river leading to Canto - Hong Kong. My code number was Pontiac 37. Plane's name "Cack's Cradle". Crew Chief Kann. Graduate of Auburn University ('42) in Forestry. Employed with International Paper Co. as supervisor at Mobile Mill and lie in Chickasaw, Alabama. |
